I’m having the same problem with Samsung M scanner, but thanks to the information here I was able to patch it working.

I think the fix might be Photo by Johan Biilmann. Launching simple scan and xsane via the terminal with the USB3 workaround[1] environmental variable works: Same on my Samsung M. My scanner works now. If this is the case, adding support should be relatively easy.
